Leaving behind a lifetime of memories to cherish, the family of Barbara Irene Crockett announces her peaceful passing on January 28, 2026, at the age of 82, at North Buck Lake, Alberta.
Her life was a masterclass in selflessness and devotion. Barbara was a cornerstone of her family, serving as a tireless caregiver for her parents and as a guiding light for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love was best seen in the small, quiet acts of service that filled her days. She was the architect of childhood comfort, never failing to pack the perfect lunches or have a fresh baked batch of cookies waiting for anyone to eat. To Barbara, caregiving wasn’t a chore – it was her calling.
Some of her happiest moments were spent at the family cabin at North Buck Lake surrounded by forever friends (Olive’s, Stewart’s, Flett’s, Kaiser’s, Bucyk’s, Strecker’s and Niezen’s) and later friends at the Softwinds Trailer Park. She taught her family to love is to serve. Her absence leaves a void that can only be filled by the stories we tell and the kindness we show one another in her name.
Barbara is lovingly survived by her husband of 64 years: Rick Crockett; devoted children: Jim Crockett, Dave (Michele) Crockett, Sue Wilde; grandchildren: Nick (Leanna), Ryan (Elizabeth), Lindy, Dillon (Charmaine), Matt, Taylor (Paul), James; great grandchildren: Auston, Gianni, Arianna, Ryder, William, Henry; her numerous honorary grandchildren; as well as her extended family at the RV Park and many many friends.
She was predeceased by her parents: Samuel & Catherine Souch.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
