Vera Bobocel

On February 12, 2026, Vera Bobocel passed away peacefully in Lac La Biche, Alberta, at the age of 96 years, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and love. 

For nearly a century, Vera was the steady anchor for her family. She was the devoted wife of Nick, a lumberjack, and together they raised 10 children. Her life was defined by quiet, tireless service; she was renowned for the endless meals she prepared not only for her large family but for the many lumberjacks who worked alongside Nick. Whether she was mending worn work clothes or stretching a stew to feed an unexpected guest, her hands were rarely still and her door was always open.

Her memory will be cherished by her children: Daniel (Edwina) Bobocel, Carole Fast, Lorraine (Jim) Howard, Richard (Judy) Bobocel, Sherry (George) Freisen, Les (Lori) Bobocel, Terry (Gaylene) Bobocel; grandchildren: Robin (Kristina), Lottie (Verek), Nicky (Shoko), Samuel (Sheena), Luke (Krista), Matthew (Carla), Crystal (Rod), David, Scott, Chelsea (Saahil), Cole (Serena), Kodi (Ken), Dyanna (Brad), Nicholas (Robyn), Austin (Kristy), Jesse (Joanna), Jordan (Taylor), Sammy (Halle); great grandchildren: Sophia, Lane, Halle, Noah, Avery, Westin, Daisy, Lillian, Jase, Rose, Nicholas, Marley, Casey, Cindy, Becky, Jacob, Jesse, Emma, Drew, Kaia, Ava, Thea, Teo; brothers: Peter Rachinski, David Rachinski; as well as many nieces, nephews, family & friends. 

She is predeceased by her husband of 47 years Nick Bobocel; children: David, Vonnie, Barry; parents: Stanley & Katherine Rachynski; sisters: Rose, Francis, Patricia, Esther; brothers: Adam, Frank, Samuel, John.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church, 14124 AB-55, Lac La Biche, Alberta, with Pastor Emmanuel Chiwele officiating. 

Her final resting place is at the Willow Park Cemetery, Lac La Biche, Alberta.
